ABOUT OUR DISTRICT

Aurora is a richly diverse community - one of the most diverse cities in the country. A former Aurora poet laureate called our city "The Ellis Island of the Plains" to capture the reality that we are a home to many immigrants and refugees seeking new beginnings.

More than 40% of residents of North Aurora are Hispanic or Latino, more than 15% are African American, and more than 6% are Asian, according to data from the state of Colorado. Students who attend Aurora Public Schools speak over 100 languages and come from around 130 countries.
